PLYMOUTH — The Pemigewasset Valley Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution set up its inaugural Hill of Heroes on the Silver Center Hill located near the corner of Court Street at Plymouth State University.

The Hill of Heroes is a tribute to family, friends, neighbors, and community members who answered the nation’s call to serve. Members created this project to raise funds for local veteran initiatives. For a $5 donation, each named veteran is honored with a U.S. flag and a marker listing their name, branch of service, and conflict, if applicable.  One of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s major areas of focus is service to veterans.

Members placed 117 flags on the hill — representing veterans from the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, World Wars I and II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, the Gulf War, and the War on Terror.
