GILFORD — Hannaford Supermarket is teaming up with a local food pantry through its "Fight Hunger Bag Program."

Through the program, $1 from each reusable shopping bag purchased at the Gilford Hannaford during April will be donated to the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, located in Laconia.

The bags cost $2.50 each, and can be purchased at the grocery store's check-out area.

A representative of Saint Vincent de Paul said that each dollar raised through the program will be used to purchase food through the NH Food Bank in order to keep the pantry's shelves stocked. While usage of the food pantry had declined during pandemic, need for the pantry has recovered to nearly pre-pandemic levels.
