HEBRON — The Newfound Lake Region Association invites you to get outside and do some winter exploring on your own. It might seem like trees are taking a break for the winter, but they have a lot going on, from winter adaptations to bud formation to seed dispersal — and now is a great time to take a closer look at all of that.
Look for NLRA to post activities and materials for outdoor fun by March 16. Between March 17-24, use these activities and resources to get outside and send us a photo or update so we know how it went. Explore how trees deal with cold and snow, learn how to identify trees by shape and bark, and make some tree art. This program is free and open to all.
Newfound Nature Challenge, along with other family programs and events, is part of NLRA’s year-round work to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty around them, learn more about the environment and how to protect it, and fall in love with the Newfound Watershed.
By connecting the people of Newfound to the wonders around them, NLRA works to inspire the next generation of stewards and fulfill the mission of protecting Newfound Lake and its watershed. Along with programs like Newfound Nature Challenge, NLRA maintains Grey Rocks Conservation Area in all seasons as a place for people and wildlife alike. It offers a new conservation center, walking trails, a picnic area, fishing alcoves, and a non-motorized boat launch and is frequented by wildlife like loons, turtles, and bald eagles as well as people.
