LACONIA — The Belknap County Democratic Committee is sponsoring a food drive in honor of Charlie St. Clair on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Belknap Marketplace by the Shaw’s entrance. Donations will benefit the Community Action Program Food Pantry in downtown Laconia.
It is nearly impossible to capture Charlie’s life in words. He was a remarkable community leader, New Hampshire state representative, public servant, businessman and, most importantly, a friend. He was deeply committed to his hometown and its people, and believed in helping others and showing up when needed.
In Charlie’s honor, the community is turning that spirit of generosity toward a real need. Food insecurity touches our neighbors of all ages, but the majority of those served by the CAP Food Pantry are children under 18 and adults over 60.
Community members are invited to bring nonperishable food items to the collection site. Every donation helps stock pantry shelves and put food on the tables of local families, children and older adults struggling to make ends meet.
“We could not think of a better way to honor Charlie than to come together and help our neighbors," said Johnna Davis, chairperson of the Belknap County Democratic Committee. "This truly symbolizes Charlie’s spirit.”
Bring what you can. Share a little kindness. Help carry Charlie’s legacy forward by doing what he did so well: showing up for his community.
