CENTER HARBOR —  The library has a number of new titles in both hardback and audio format, including works by contemporary authors Daniel Silva, Jane Harper, Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, Alex Michaelides, and Jennifer Ryan. In addition, the shelves hold a bevy of current non-fiction titles to keep you in the know. If the library does not have a title you’re looking for, they will try to loan it from a member library or add it to their own collection.

On Wednesday, Aug. 4 and Wednesday, Aug. 11, story time will be held at the Center Harbor Town beach pavilion starting at 1:30 p.m.

The summer reading challenge, Go for the Gold! is underway. Children and adults are invited to participate in a two-week long reading program through Aug. 7. If you are visiting or have visitors who would like to join you in our Olympic reading games, you can be an Olympic reading candidate no matter the length of your stay – come in and join the fun and earn a bronze, silver or gold medal to celebrate summer reading. Sign-ups are on-going. A robust thank you to our summer reading prize sponsors — Dewey’s Ice Cream Parlor and Café, The Edge Tie Dye, YIKES! American Craft Gallery, and Bayswater Book Shop — all of Center Harbor.

This week’s library patron shout-out goes to adult summer resident Betsy Cox. Betsy is a huge fan of the Nichols Memorial Library and a dedicated summer visitor. Her favorite things about the library include “the wonderful variety of audio and print titles available, and they’re always the popular titles I am hoping to read!” Additionally, Betsy lauds the library staff. “The Librarians are very friendly and it is nice to come to a place and feel welcomed and valued … plus they always have helpful recommendations!”

New operating hours have started. The library is now open four days a week — Monday and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside pick up is available as well.
