CENTER HARBOR — Just in time for the holidays, AARP wrapped up its last gift of the year to the Town of Center Harbor — enhanced security cameras.Â
Earlier this year, Nichols Memorial Library received a Community Challenge grant for new outdoor furniture. The goal was to make Center Harbor’s green spaces safer, more inviting and accessible to residents and those visiting our charming lakeside town. Library Director Linda Verge collaborated with Selectboard member Harry Viens before submitting the grant.
One of Vien’s recommendations was that the furniture be monitored by security cameras. However, before that could happen, the Center Harbor Police Department’s equipment needed to be upgraded. Just recently, that upgrade was completed. A new DVR and additional security cameras have now been installed.Â
In August, a crew of local volunteers assembled and installed four picnic tables and umbrellas on the side lawn of Nichols Memorial Library, and four Adirondack chairs in the adjacent Dr. Morrill Memorial Park.Â
