BELMONT — A variety of activities are on tap in October at the Belmont Public Library.

Preschool-aged story time features stories, movement, music, and crafts to encourage early literacy skills on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

LEGO Build is Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The library will be closed Monday, Oct. 8 for Columbus Day.

The new non-fiction book group meets on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. to discuss "Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit" by Michael Finkel. Copies are available at the library desk.

Middle School Madness for grades five through eight will make wizard wands on Monday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.  

The Senior Center book group is reading "Girl Waits with Gun" by Amy Stewart on Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. Copies are available at the Belmont Senior Center.

On Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 5:30 p.m., the adult craft group will try out some pumpkin carving and decorating techniques. Supplies are provided and sign-up is requested, space is limited to eight participants.

A special Halloween story time will take place Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10:30 a.m.

The library will hand out candy to all in costume on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Book-related costumes are encouraged.

The Friday Fiction Book Group will read "The Magpie Murders" by Anthony Horowitz on Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m. 

The Friends of the Library are selling raffle tickets at the library. The raffle will be held in November. There will be a 50/50 raffle, as well as prizes including a Nook, a Marqart box, and Christmas decorations.

The Belmont Public Library is open six days a week and any time at www.belmontpubliclibrary.org, serving the community with books, digital resources, and cultural programming. In 2018, the library celebrates 90 years in the same building and 125 as Belmont’s community library.
