ASHLAND — Ashland Elementary School students Leighanna MacKay and Wade Zumbach were recently both surprised to learn that they had been selected to receive an award from outside organizations.

Leighanna was selected from thousands of students as the New Hampshire first-prize winner in Achieve3000’s Make the Break winter holiday contest. Students who completed at least five lessons on Achieve3000 Literacy between December 19, 2020 and January 3, 2021 were entered into statewide drawings for a chance to win Skull candy Sesh Evo headphones.

Wade Zumbach was recognized for his participation in the Save for America Banking Program where students have the opportunity to make weekly deposits into their Meredith Village Savings Bank accounts. Any student who made a deposit at least twice before the holiday break was entered into a drawing to win an Amazon Echo Dot.
