LACONIA — Ebeneezer Scrooge returns to the Colonial Theatre stage for four performances only, Friday through Sunday, Dec. 16-18. Sixty performers ranging in age from 7 to over 70 have spent the last couple of months working hard to bring some holiday spirit and theatre magic to the Lakes Region when they perform Joel Mercier’s "A Christmas Carol: The Musical Ghost Story."

This year, three-time NH Theatre Award winner Ray Dudley takes on the role of Scrooge, and is excited for the challenge. “Actors such as Albert Finney, Patrick Stewart, Michael Caine and even Mr. Magoo have done the part. Another challenge is his transformation. His ultimate redemption has to be believable. From despicable, condescending and cruel to a humble, generous and warm human being," Dudley said.

New this year will be a caroling choir that has already made a couple of appearances around the Lakes Region. The choir, led by Lorraine Barrows, will take the stage before the show to entertain with traditional holiday carols.

There are evening performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Last year’s performances were nearly sold out. For tickets and all the details, visit powerhousenh.org
