Plymouth State students shine in sales presentation

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth State professional sales students are making a name for themselves after a recent meeting with a group of corporate executives from four New Hampshire companies. Students in PSU's Professional Selling Skills II course, along with instructor Robert Nadeau, recently met with officials from Medicus, Core Medical Group, ConnectLeader and TD Bank to showcase their sales strategy and presentation skills.

In a series of oral and video presentations, the students provided training on effective cold-calling and voicemail message scripting to build relationships with new customers in a corporate sales exercise.

Ken Smith, ConnectLeader marketing director said, "I was really impressed with the skills and professionalism of the Plymouth State Professional Selling students ... I can imagine how intimidating it might be to present a sales training presentation to a room full of professional sales reps, but these students knocked it out of the park." ConnectLeader CEO Senraj Soundar added, "The students were impressive. I would, and will try, to hire each and every one of them."

PSU's Professional Sales program was started by Nadeau in 2010. There are now 200 students enrolled.

Nadeau noted that one of his core beliefs is experiential learning: "A student's success is helped by presenting before professional sales people in addition to rigorous classroom training."

In 2015, PSU students ranked 10th at the National Collegiate Sales Competition and many program alumni have gone on to become successful sales professionals. PSU's Professional Sales program is now the largest east of Ohio and north of New Jersey.
