MEREDITH — The Charles G. Burrows Memorial Athletic Field at Inter-Lakes Middle High School in Meredith is more than just a field – it’s a hub for student-focused athletic events, band performances, ceremonies, concerts, and more. However, the field has lacked permanent field lighting. This means activities have to wrap up before it gets dark, or rely on diesel-powered lights for visibility.

In 2024, the Inter-Lakes Grandparents’ Club launched the ‘Light It Up Lakers!’ campaign, a fundraiser with a goal of $346,963 for the installation of permanent field lights. Among the supporters is Meredith Village Savings Bank, who proudly contributed $50,000. As of late May, the campaign has raised $134,964 in support.

“We’re excited to lead this project that will ultimately provide a myriad of benefits to the school, students and the community,” said Bruce Jones, member of the Inter-Lakes Grandparents’ Club. “It will allow students better access to the field, provide more opportunities for community use, and revive the concept of Friday Night Lights during football games. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far.”

“It was easy to see the benefits of supporting this wonderful project, which is an investment that will benefit students and community members for many years to come,” said Marcus Weeks, MVSB President. “We look forward to seeing the lights go up thanks to this tremendous local effort.”
