BELMONT — Heidi Johnston, of Gilmanton, was surprised on June 9 with a $5,000 flooring and installation package after being selected as the winner of The Home Beautiful's 5th Anniversary Flooring Giveaway, a community initiative designed to recognize local heroes who make a difference in the lives of others.

Johnston was presented with the award at work, where she was surrounded by coworkers who joined in celebrating the recognition. Nominated by friend and coworker Jill Brewer, Johnston was chosen from dozens of submissions highlighting individuals who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to their families, workplaces and communities.

"Among the many deserving nominations we received, Heidi's story stood out," Kimberly Young, general manager of The Home Beautiful, said. "The employee-owners were moved by the impact she has had on those around her, particularly while overcoming significant personal challenges. She represents the kind of selflessness, resilience, and community spirit this giveaway was created to recognize."

In her nomination, Brewer described Johnston as someone who consistently puts others first, offering support to family, friends, co-workers, and community members without expecting anything in return. The nomination detailed numerous examples of Johnston's generosity and perseverance, qualities that resonated strongly with The Home Beautiful's employee-owners.

"Heidi embodies the spirit of service and kindness that strengthens our communities," Jackie Lemire, President of The Home Beautiful's Board of Directors, said. "We are honored to recognize her and celebrate the positive impact she continues to have on the people around her."

The anniversary giveaway was created as part of The Home Beautiful's ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves. As an employee-owned cooperative, the company believes in investing not only in homes, but also in the people who help make central New Hampshire a better place to live and work.
