Photos show snow on a castle in Scotland - but brave locals still donned kilts for a winter walk.

The Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye saw a layer of snow fall, turning Eilean Donan Castle into a breathtaking winter scene.

Locals were pictured bundled up in warm clothes while out and about, while others decided to have a snowball fight nearby.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice was in place across most of Scotland from 6pm last night, and is expected to remain active in the islands until Thursday night.

The Highlands and islands are expected to see the most snow - with the Met Office warning of up to four inches of snow on high ground.

Despite a mild November so far, temperatures could drop to a low of -10C in the coldest areas of the country.
