PLYMOUTH — The Christian Science Society will sponsor a free talk by Bobby Lewis titled “Effective Prayer: Finding healing and wholeness in divine Love.” Lewis will share how prayer, founded in divine love and spiritual law, offers a reliable foundation for healing, personal growth, and how this provides our inseparable connection to God.
His career experiences included working with Outward Bound, with AmeriCorps, and as a chaplain in the Marines. He has worked extensively with young people, as well as in the criminal justice system and community mental health organizations.
Lewis grew up in the mountains of Colorado, and found inspiration in wild places all his life. During some tough teenage years, his mother (a Christian Science practitioner), helped him begin to see himself as spiritually whole and loved by God right in the midst of those challenges. It made all the difference and that dark time was left behind. The care he received, and those early lessons of the value of seeking spiritually and listening deeply to God, set him on a trajectory of wanting to give back to others by supporting their growth.
After studying religion in college and graduate school with a focus on learning more about how to put the teachings of the Bible into day-to-day practice, Lewis began work as a Christian Science practitioner, reaching out to others with healing focused prayer.
This talk will be held in the church building at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, at 7 Emerson St. All are welcome to attend.
