To The Daily Sun

My husband, I, and other family members spent a day in Boston for medical appointments. We could not have been more impressed by the intelligence and commitment of our southern neighbors. We were downtown for over five hours and everyone we saw was wearing a mask. When I say everyone I mean 100 percent of people wore them. The people were walking, riding bikes, strolling with children or otherwise going about their daily lives. It was extremely heartening to see that life was going on — albeit with a mask.

Bravo for Boston. Not only is Boston STRONG, but they are the absolute best, leaders and survivors. Everyone who questions whether residents would wear masks, come to Boston and see. I was proud to be a New Englander to witness the common sense of our neighbors. I only wish that what Boston has embraced could be adopted elsewhere. Perhaps we could encourage a competition on social media to rank cities all over our country by percentage of mask wearing. Can it hurt? We know it helps. Is there really a good reason not to suffer a little inconvenience if there is a chance it can help someone?

All I can answer is that Bostonians are not selfish and are going that extra mile. They provide further proof of Boston Strong. Bravo and thank you.
