To The Daily Sun,

On Facebook on Oct. 3, Fred Doucette, deputy majority leader of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, posted about what Republicans stand for. As a member of the Republican Party, it is fully within his right to write about what Republicans stand for. However, Doucette also chose to write “what Democrats stand for.” And what he wrote was nothing more than mischaracterization of Democratic positions. As a member of the Democratic Party, I will not speak to what Republicans stand for just to score points. I will say what I and my fellow Democrats do stand for:

• Tax relief for ordinary working families

• Fair taxes that don’t burden working families

• Infrastructure projects that repair our roads and bridges

• Bringing jobs to NH and development of domestic manufacturing (CHIPS)

• Quality education that respects the rights of all children and supports our teachers

• Social Security and Medicare

• Supporting our vulnerable citizens
