Having just read Saturday’s letter from Sharon Lafond regarding police use of deadly force, I’ve no doubt there will be an abundance of rebuttal letters taking her to task for her views. I will not add my opinions to this debate that will be ably covered by others, but instead wish to offer something that I trust will be viewed as practical, and hopefully, well received by Ms. Lafond.
I am a sworn and certified Special Deputy Sheriff with Belknap County, as well as a SIG Sauer Academy and state-certified pistol instructor. With the approval of Sheriff Moyer, I am offering Ms. Lafond a class on firearm safety, live fire of a duty firearm if she so wishes and a one-on-one discussion about the issues she raised in her letter.
I respectfully request Ms. Lafond contact me at the Sheriff’s Department, 527-5454 ext 1260, to arrange the training at a convenient time. I believe it will be both informative and enlightening.
