Patty Thibeault: Vote for Marcia Hayward, a major advocate for education

I attended a quilt show recently. It was standing room only — and most of us were over 80. Why are there so many old folks in New Hampshire? What could it be?

Marcia Hayward is running for state representative because New Hampshire is dead last in the nation in state support for public education — follow along …

This has big consequences. It shapes the quality of public schools we can afford in each city. Funding education on the backs of property owners drives up housing costs and rents. Young families starting out can't afford NH.

And when young families can't afford NH, we are weakened in many ways.

The inability to afford good housing makes businesses hesitate to locate here. It is hard to attract qualified employees to the Granite State when they see the price of housing. So we have a doctor shortage, a nursing shortage, a teacher shortage — a shortage of young qualified workers across the board.

To address these problems what we need most is Marcia Hayward. Her goal is to help New Hampshire live up to its responsibility to fund education — helping property owners and school children alike.

Marcia is tailor-made for this: she's been a teacher and a principal. I've experienced Marcia’s work ethic and energy. She is the hardest-working, brightest, most dedicated person I know in any area she puts her hand to.
