Mike MacFadzen: Tuesday's election important to determine city's direction

With the election on Tuesday, voters have a choice to make. This election is extremely important to determine the direction that Laconia moves in. Do voters move into the future on the same tax and spend path or do voters change direction to encourage business to come to Laconia with lower taxes and incentives providing good paying jobs, and make Laconia more affordable? Do voters continue to throw money at the homeless issue, hoping that it goes away, or do voters become more proactive, by enforcing the current laws, and pass a no camping in public places ordinance? Do voters continue with the current welfare system of freebies, or do voters require some skin in the game with recipients having to be in counseling services, drug and alcohol free requirements for services, actively looking for job training and/or applying for employment?

If readers want to move Laconia into the future with more efficient and effective local government, please consider voting for me, Mike MacFadzen, for Ward 1 city council. I am a respectful, reasonable Republican that is also a compassionate conservative. I will fight for lower taxes, support first responders, find answers to deal with the homeless issue, fight to revitalize the downtown, and work to improve the local schools by supporting teachers and reducing redundant and unnecessary administrative positions. I am a commonsense conservative and do not demand likeminded thinking. I will listen to all citizens and consider all perspectives when voting on the issues.

We need to build a future for readers' children to stay or come back to Laconia, with good jobs, affordable single-family homes built in robust and safe neighborhoods. If voters want a city that is the Gateway to the Lakes, please vote for me on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
