To The Daily Sun,

As a six-year member of the Budget Committee for the Town of Belmont, I feel the need to correct some misinformation that has recently been shared. The Budget Committee is the final stop before voters. The Budget Committee has the authority and responsibility to scrutinize and refine the proposed budgets. The committee gave overwhelming support to the budget with just one change and two no votes across the entire process.

This is our second year concluding with a default budget in place, underscoring the importance of approving the recommended

A $12,071,283 operating budget with $6,558,667 of that is to be raised through taxation. This plan supports our hard working, dedicated employees who keep our community running smoothly every day.

Another default budget would almost certainly force cuts to essential services that residents rely on. By passing this balanced proposal we can maintain the quality of life, infrastructure and other key areas.

I encourage all registered voters to join us on March 10 to cast their ballot and have their say. Taxpayers' participation ensures our town will continue moving forward together.
