To The Daily Sun,
The evidence that the Donald Trump administration is attempting to dismantle good science at every level is overwhelming. There are far too many examples to list here ― the most recent of which is the removal of ocean monitoring systems designed to study how the ocean absorbs greenhouse gases, how marine heat waves shift, and how ocean currents could disrupt world weather patterns.
What is being revealed in Trump's relentless attack on science? Could it be that good science and autocracy are incompatible? Could it be that the search for objective truth directly challenges an authoritarian's political control? Meanwhile, the legislative and judicial branches of our federal government are AWOL when it comes to resisting these assaults.
This is happening not only at the federal level, but also at the state level, with so many good energy, climate, and environmental bills being voted down by the NH Legislature along ideological lines.
This direction is a threat to our society's future and should be unacceptable to all Americans. The only lever of power left to reverse this dangerous anti-scientific trend is the vote. Let's resolve this predicament. Vote Democratic.
