Lauren Noether: The sovereignty of other countries should be respected

We are no better than authoritarian rulers like Vladmir Putin when our regime invades another country without proper congressional approval simply to plunder their resources and enrich themselves. This is a war crime.

The U.S. was founded on the independence of a people to decide their own fate and not be ruled over by those who do not properly represent them. Also, the American people have a right to know where their sons and daughters are being sent on missions in battle. It is just that simple.

The sovereignty of other countries should be respected as we would like ours to be. We pretend to care about human rights and the self determination of other nations, yet this action is pure hypocrisy, war, outright murder, and madness as is Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Our congressional delegation (Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Sen. Maggie Hassan, Rep. Maggie Goodlander, Rep. Chris Pappas) and their colleagues across the U.S. must stop this dangerously, illegal action.
