To The Daily Sun,

Recently I had some negative responses from a few locals regarding a food drive by the local Democrats group here in the Lakes Region.

First off, I'm incredibly thankful to anyone willing to sit outside in the sun and humidity to raise funds and food for the local folks in need. Fundraisers are no fun, they are a lot of work. So many local pantries are struggling to keep up. We love to see collaboration from anywhere, and whether the food comes to us or other pantries isn't important. What is important is the hand up and ounce of hope it gives families for one more day. If people could read the heartfelt notes left daily to us of thanks it may help melt some frozen hearts.

There are so many wonderful local nonprofits who work so hard to keep people fed, clothes and so many other needs are met.

If it wasn't for kindness of our locals we wouldn't be going into our seventh year. I could never do it alone. The greatness of a community is very much based on the compassion and empathy of its inhabitants and we have it in spades here.

I will be organizing a once-a-month breakfast at a local restaurant in town ― first Saturday of the month. If readers are interested in working together and discussing constructive ideas, reach out to me. I'm only one woman but together we are so strong. People need hope ... let's work together. Reach me at 603-998-2084 or on Facebook at Restoration Acres Farm for more details.
