To The Daily Sun,

Some folks say they’re voting for Donald Trump because he'll fix the economy. Really? I must’ve missed something. Putting aside the fact that Trump declared personal bankruptcy four times, it’s fair to say he also ruined our economy.

Trump placed tariffs on Chinese aluminum and steel and said China would pay for it. Nope, they didn’t. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the average American family loses $1,400 a year as a result of this tariff policy. Not only that, but thousands of steel manufacturing jobs were lost as a result of this policy.

How about the wall? Trump said Mexico will pay for the border wall. Wrong again. Last year, U.S. taxpayers paid $17.4 billion to build the wall. Mexico paid nothing.

How about trade? Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Trans Pacific Trade Partnership. In doing so, he cost U.S. businesses $131 billion in lost revenue. Here’s a good example of fiscal responsibility — Space Force, an unnecessarily added branch of the military, which costs the U.S. taxpayer $17 billion a year.

How about taxes? During the Trump years, average Americans saw no meaningful tax relief. However, he did give his billionaire friends a nice deal — permanently cutting corporate tax rate by 14%. He said that businesses would reinvest the tax savings back into the work force. They didn’t.

If given another crack at it, I’m sure Trump will permanently, fiscally and morally bankrupt our country.
