Jon Hildreth: Independent running to represent Laconia Wards 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6

For those readers that don’t know me, I’m Jon Hildreth, and I am running for representative to the General Court in Laconia Ward 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

I was born and raised in Laconia with my parents and six siblings. My dad was a Laconia police officer, then a lieutenant in the Laconia Fire Department.

I attended local schools and graduated from Laconia High. My late friend, Kevin Sullivan, who owned Melnick’s Shoe store, used to say, “You’re a townie, like me. We’re townies.” Well, Kevin was right.

I raised my two children here and they both attended Pleasant Street School, Memorial Middle School and Laconia High School. I taught them to ski at Gunstock, and my son raced for Gunstock Ski Club and the LHS ski team.

I am running so that more families can enjoy the things that have kept me here. The lakes, the mountains and all the community minded people are the reasons that we call the Lakes Region home.

I have been a long-term independent voter and will maintain my centrist views if I am elected. I am running on the Democratic ticket but will represent all Laconia citizens in the statehouse and will always listen to constituents’ concerns.

I want to make certain that Laconia and Belknap County have a voice in Concord.

I will work for a strong public school system, more affordable housing, and our environment, which is so important to all of us, but also for local tourism and all the small businesses that thrive because of it.

As a member of the Belknap Delegation, I will work to ensure that we protect and support our Belknap Nursing Home, sheriff’s department, and our beloved Gunstock Mountain Resort.
