Jim Mayotte: Some questions for Rep. Maggie Goodlander on illegal orders

Six Democratic members of Congress, all veterans of the U.S. military or intelligence community, issued a joint statement reminding service members of their duty to refuse any illegal orders.

They are:

• Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan)
• Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Arizona)
• Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colorado)
• Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-Pennsylvania)
• Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-NH)
• Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pennsylvania)

I am a veteran and have a few questions for Rep. Maggie Goodlander.

• Was the mandate (order) for the military to be vaccinated for COVID an illegal/legal order? Perhaps, Jake Sullivan can help. Those that disobeyed the order were discharged.
• Was the order by President Joe Biden to give Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan to the Taliban before the United States withdrew an illegal or legal order? Following the order resulted in 13 soldiers being killed.
• The video does not state whose orders should be disobeyed. Are we talking orders from sergeants, petty officers, generals or admirals, secretary of war, national security adviser or the president or any orders from any person?
• In her view, has President Donald Trump issued any illegal orders? Can she give an example of an actual illegal order?
• How much of her participation in the video was influenced by her husband, Jake Sullivan? Jake Sullivan was President’s Biden national security adviser.

Her video was very confusing. I laughed because many of the orders I got in boot camp were "funny." No one ordered me to write this letter to the editor.
