To The Daily Sun,
Without a declaration of war, the U.S. has dropped huge bunker buster bombs on Iran. Iran poses no threat to us. Remember the cost of our war on Iraq whose “weapons of mass destruction” did not exist. Yet the U.S. squandered more than $2 trillion and that war cost over 4,000 American lives and over 100,000 Iraqi lives.
And now we are bombing Iran under equally false perceptions. The U.S. Intelligence Annual Threat Assessment notes no increase in nuclear bomb development in Iran. International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors on the ground at Iran’s facilities report no new development.
Iran has honored the agreement that the Obama administration and Iran signed in 2016 called the JCPOA.
There was no verifiable reason for the U.S. to bomb Iran. These strikes do, however, give Iran a reason to distrust the U.S.
I call on the U.S. Congress to fulfill its constitutional obligation and pass the War Powers Resolutions: Tell Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan to co-sponsor SB 2087 and Reps. Chris Pappas and Maggie Goodlander to co-sponsor HR 38.
Israel has managed to saturate the press with misinformation with stories about Iran’s nuclear project which are not verified as there are no reliable sources and no verifiable facts.
And what’s behind all the bombing and killing? Israel’s desire to own the land of the Palestinians.
We must stop the bombing.
