James Veverka: The Hind Rajab Foundation looks for war criminals

Meet the Belgium-based "Hind Rajab Foundation" that hunts down Israeli soldiers worldwide for Gaza war crimes. It has gathered over 8,000 pieces of evidence and filed an unprecedented and historic complaint with the International Criminal Court against over a thousand Israeli Defense Forces soldiers for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Identified by name, they are accused of participating in systematic attacks against civilians during the ongoing genocide. It has initiated nearly 100 cases against Israeli soldiers in 14 countries with universal jurisdiction: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Thailand. The vacationers were forced to flee, aided by the Israeli government. In one case, due to universal jurisdiction, Brazil opened a war crimes investigation into an Israeli soldier without waiting for an ICC arrest warrant after his social media posts expose his crimes in Gaza.

Joining them in this endeavor is the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians which has announced the launch of “Global 195”, a worldwide legal coalition dedicated to holding accountable Israeli and dual national individuals alleged to have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. UK Director Tayab Ali says, “There shouldn’t be a safe space for them anywhere in the world where they can go without fearing prosecution.” Another team of lawyers in the UK and researchers based in The Hague compiled a 240-page report for submission to the War Crimes Team at the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command accusing 10 British citizens of war crimes in Gaza. This is only the beginning.
