To The Daily Sun,
Looking back over the years, I’ve always been told that a “word to the wise is sufficient.” It is important to note that the working people who drive our economy have taken the biggest hit of all during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After saying that, it will become obvious, if it hasn’t already, that the income to the public coffers will be severely depleted shortly if this continues. The outflow of money from these coffers hasn’t changed and the results of inaction could be devastating.
It would be a noble gesture of our elected and public officials if they took similar cuts in salaries and expenses that have been expected of others.
What has driven me to write this is the haunting words of my grandmother, an immigrant; “Work for the government, you will always get paid.”
