L.J. Schaffnit: Trump suggests families suffer economic pain for his political benefit

Of the many names used to vilify Donald Trump over the past years, the one that most recently rings-clear is: self-serving. While the economy is improving and inflation is slowing, Trump has gone so far as to openly wish for an economic “crash.” He has good reason to hope for a bad economy; any win for Joe Biden makes his bid for the White House less likely to succeed. This belief, that for his unscrupulous ambitions to be served, all things and people can be justifiably used, and that he is the center not only of his own world but the worlds others inhabit, is paramount in his thinking. A true leaders’ duty should always be to put the American people first — Trump is suggesting that hardworking families suffer economic pain for his own political benefit.

It also appears that the GOP has come to the conclusion that what is good for America is bad for Trump; policy achievements have taken a back seat to returning him to the White House. While the American public are legitimately concerned about issues on our borders, the GOP describing it as an “invasion” and an “existential” and national security threat, a bipartisan immigration bill is failing under the political pressure from Trump and his political allies — Trump thinks it’s bad for him politically. The GOP and Trump believe the issue is damaging Biden, and they don’t see why they should help him during an election year. I believe a real “existential threat” cannot wait for some later date. Apparently Trump doesn’t want to get the problem solved, he wants to save the problem and possibly take credit for solving it later.

Oh. Should I mention Trump’s interest in being a “dictator?”
