To The Daily Sun,
After being appointed and then elected to the council in 2023, I’ve worked diligently over the past two years to make our city a safe place to live, standing alongside area residents at a city council meeting to speak against illegal camping in the woods behind their homes. I’ve been instrumental in the removal of illegal camping in the woods at the end of Spruce Street, Baldwin Street and Opal Lane, taken the lead on trespassing issues on Opal Lane as well as the removal of illegal campers on Hounsell Avenue. As a result, crime has been reduced in response to the actions taken.
I’ve actively supported the conversion of a city-owned lot, with a vernal pond, located on Lafayette Street to a conservation zoned lot. This prevented the land from being sold and developed. My hope for the future is that the property would be developed into a nature park.
Working closely with the city manager, police department, Department of Public Works and the Dixon Street residents to resolve parking issues. This was accomplished without having to post “No Parking” signs.
Ensured the repair of the manholes on Highland Street were completed by DPW.
Connected with the city manager and DPW to address issues on Olive Place.
As this is not a complete list of the work I have done for the residents of Ward 5, it represents how I have worked on solving everyday issues. Please support me in my bid for reelection for Laconia’s Ward 5 city councilor, so that, together, we can continue to clean up the parks and streets in order to make it safe for our kids.
Councilor Steven Bogert, Ward 5
Laconia
