Carolyn Sundquist: Supporting Deirdre McEachern for state representative

Having served on the Tuftonboro Selectboard for nine years, as both a member and chair, I know how important local representation can be, and how important it is for our state representatives to understand and listen to the communities they serve.

That is why I am pleased to support Deirdre McEachern for state representative.

I have come to know Deirdre as someone who takes her responsibilities seriously and genuinely cares about the community. She listens to people, asks thoughtful questions, and approaches difficult issues with a willingness to understand different perspectives.

Deirdre also brings an unusual breadth of experience to public service. She is an entrepreneur, former Head of School, author, and community leader who has spent her career building organizations, creating opportunities, and solving complex problems. Her background in conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation has given her valuable skills for working with people who don’t always agree.

What has particularly impressed me during the campaign is Deirdre’s commitment to meet with as many residents as possible through her regular Meet Deirdre coffee gatherings, community events, house parties, and by going door to door and listening to voters.

That kind of hard work matters.

A state representative should understand that decisions made in Concord affect people right here in Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro ― our families, businesses, schools, property owners, lakes, and community organizations. Deirdre understands the importance of bringing local perspectives to those decisions.

She is running to be of service to our communities. I believe her experience, willingness to listen, and commitment to finding practical solutions will serve Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro well.

I am proud to support Deirdre McEachern for state representative, and I encourage my fellow Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro residents to learn more about her and consider supporting her candidacy.
