To The Daily Sun,

There is growing concern among teachers and families about the climate at Inter-Lakes Elementary School. While school leaders often speak about supporting staff and fostering a positive work environment, many teachers report a very different reality.

Teachers have expressed concerns that emails to administrators frequently go unanswered and requests for support are often met with silence. At a time when educators face increasing academic, behavioral, and emotional demands in the classroom, strong leadership and communication are more important than ever.

Many teachers are also frustrated by recent staffing decisions. Several highly respected educators who have taught the same grade levels for years were informed that they would be reassigned to different grades next year. These teachers have spent years building successful academic teams, collaborating with colleagues, and helping improve student outcomes. When they asked for the reasoning behind the changes, they were reportedly told it was simply to "shake things up."

Such decisions can have a significant impact on staff morale, especially when they appear arbitrary and are made without meaningful input from the educators most affected.

Perhaps most troubling is the growing perception among some teachers that those who raise concerns or ask difficult questions are being singled out rather than heard. Whether this perception is accurate or not, it reflects a serious breakdown in trust between staff and administration.

Our schools are strongest when teachers feel respected, supported, and valued. District leaders should listen carefully to the concerns being raised and work to rebuild trust before more dedicated educators choose to leave.
