How many readers have heard the expression “It’s the economy, stupid?” Democrats are pushing that narrative as the midterms get closer. They are claiming gas prices, food, housing, rents, healthcare, etc. are too high under Republican rule and they will fix it. That claim is absurd. Here a few facts CNN, MS NOW, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc. leave out of their false narratives.
According to Gas Buddy, gas prices reached $5.00/gal in June 2022 under the Biden administration (tinyurl.com/476e57e4). Does anyone recall the outrage from the above media?
According to the Bureau of Labor & Statistics, inflation in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 was 4.7%, 8.0%, 4.1% and 2.9% respectively under President Joe Biden (tinyurl.com/4f9nf34u). In 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 inflation was 2.1%, 2.4%, 1.8% and 1.2%, respectively, under Donald Trump. In Trump’s first year back in office, inflation was 2.6%. Lower than any year during the Biden administration. Yet the above media and Democrats running for Congress are claiming runaway inflation. It’s absurd.
In 2009 total healthcare cost were $2.5 trillion according to CMS.gov (tinyurl.com/d85xryk4). Democrats passed Obamacare the following year without Republican support. They claimed it would reduce healthcare costs by $1,500 annually. In 2024 total healthcare costs was $5.3T. Over a 100% increase due in part to blue states providing free healthcare to illegal immigrants.
I’ll close with this article from the Reason Foundation that ranks states by debt per resident (tinyurl.com/448wazf5). The 13 states with the highest debt per resident are Connecticut, New Jersey, Hawaii, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Wyoming, Alaska, North Dakota, California, Washington, New York and Vermont. Note that 10 are run by Democrats. Of the 13 states with the lowest debt per resident, all are run by Republicans. Believing Democrats will solve financial woes is irrational. If the economy is a goal, vote Republican.
