Bruce Jenket: Education is a good cure for ignorance

The Harris/Walz campaign claims there will be no new taxes. Yet, according to CNN, tinyurl.com/ywfpkj23, Kamala Harris proposed increasing business taxes from 21% to 28%. I guess Harris believes a tax increase is not a “new” tax, right? Who will pay for that tax increase? Harris claims the “greedy” business owners will. The truth is businesses will simply increase the cost of goods or services to the consumer. We know that because we just experienced a 20% increase in consumer costs over the last 3.5 years due to the Biden/Harris war on energy.

What other taxes will increase? Well, personal income taxes will because the TCJA (Donald Trump tax cuts) will expire in 2025. Readers probably haven't seen it since the state-run media of MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc., censored that article and keep repeating that Harris/Walz will cut taxes for 100 million Americans. The article has a calculator to see how much taxes will increase. A married couple making $85,000 with two kids will pay $1,662 more.

It’s like Obamacare that promised to reduce health insurance costs by $1,500. How did that work out? Here are the numbers. In 2010 the total health care costs in the USA was $2.6 trillion. In 2022 it was $4.5 trillion. That is a 72% increase. Wage growth has been 42% by comparison. Check the data at CMS.gov.

My last letter explained the difference between "stupid” and “ignorant.” Only a small percentage of people are born stupid (i.e. cognitively handicapped). However, millions practice ignorance by believing fake news. There is no cure for “stupid” but there is for “ignorance." It’s called education. The links above are a good start.
