WOLFEBORO — State Police are investigating a potential drowning on Lake Winnipesaukee after a man was found deceased at Carry Beach Thursday evening.
Thomas A. Lennon, 65, of Wolfeboro, was found lying face down in the water by a group of bystanders June 6. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Lennon’s death is the first drowning investigation on Lake Winnipesaukee this year.
Dispatchers received a report to the Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue Department at 6:16 p.m. Thursday regarding a man found facedown in the water at Carry Beach. Paramedic responded to the beach and enlisted bystanders in transporting Lennon to shore for emergency medical treatment.
Lennon was not transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene, Tyler Dumont, New Hampshire Department of Safety public information officer, said.
New Hampshire Marine Patrol officers arrived at the scene and began an investigation into Lennon’s death. They do not consider the circumstances to be suspicious.
“The advice we give to everyone is a life jacket,” Dumont said Friday morning. “If there’s ever an incident if you’re boating or on the lake, not only us as first responders but your family can find you. It can really make a difference in an emergency on the water.”
The Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue Department, the Wolfeboro Police Department and the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted Marine Patrol at the scene.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Marine Patrol Officer Michelle Gallant at 603-293-2037 or Michelle.L.Gallant@dos.nh.gov.
