LACONIA — City police said the alleged strong-arm robbery of the Union Avenue Big Apple Store was an inside job and they have made two arrests — including the clerk who said he was robbed.
Matthew Pearl, 23, of 26 Nottingham Drive of Canterbury was the clerk who alleged he was punched in the face at 2:05 a.m. on Aug. 10 by a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black mask and jeans.
Pearl told police an undetermined amount of money was stolen.
He was picked up by Canterbury Police Monday on a warrant issued by Laconia police and charged with unsworn falsification, conspiracy to file a false police report and conspiracy to commit theft by unauthorized taking.
The alleged robber was John J. Drouin, 23, of 106 Messer St. He was charged with conspiracy to file a false report to law enforcement and conspiracy to commit theft by unauthorized taking.
Police said all the charges are misdemeanors.
