MEREDITH — The selectboard held a pair workshops on a proposed policy about road closures and special events this spring, and the board is expected to take a vote on implementing it on Monday.

The workshops were held on April 27 and May 11, and at the last meeting, the board consensus was to bring the policy forward.

The policy was drafted by Town Manager Judie Milner, with a purpose of ensuring “safe, fair, and consistent” management of events that require use of public spaces and road closures.

The need for the policy came after the Boho Bazaar was approved by the selectboard on March 30, by a 4-1 vote, with Mike Pelczar against. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug.15, with the fourth annual free event expected to feature 40 vendors, live music and food trucks. The event is hosted by Rise Boutique, and will require the closure of Main Street.

While the request was granted, selectboard members agreed no other events should be approved until an official policy was drafted, discussed, and voted upon.

The selectboard has six workshop items on their agenda, including an update on the upcoming 250th celebration, information about a Storm Water Management grant, an update on foam recycling at the transfer station, cigarette pollution at Hesky Park and the town docks, an employee engagement survey, and an update on the planning and redevelopment reorganization process.

The selectboard is also expected to vote on six abatements for the 2025 tax year amounting to $14,661.97, and will also receive their usual budget update from Milner.

The agenda can be found at meredithnh.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_06222026-1385.

The selectboard meets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 22, at the Meredith Community Center.
