James Flanders, 25, of 4 Fair Street was arrested yesterday and charged with driving while intoxicated after he drove a van through the front of the Irving Mainway convenience store on Union Avenue.

According to police, officers arrived at the Irving Mainway at 9:21 a.m. to find a 1992 Ford Econoline van had driven part way into the store, causing severe structural damage to the building. Flanders, who was driving the van, was given a field sobriety test and subsequently arrested. After being treated for minor injuries at Lakes Region General Hospital, Flanders was released. The accident remains under investigation.
