James Flanders, 25, of 246 Country Club Road was arrested early Friday morning and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled drug and operating a motor vehicle after suspension.
According to police, shortly before 1 a.m. Officer Justin Blanchette stopped Flanders on Garfield Street for running a stop sign. A records check indicated that Flanders's license was suspended on Thursday when he refused to take a breathalyzer test after being stopped for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. When a subsequent search of his vehicle turned up packages of what police believe to be crack cocaine and several pills, Flanders was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled drug.
Flanders was held in Beknap County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and arraigned in Laconia District Court on Friday, when his bail was increased to $25,000.
