LACONIA — The city’s eviction notice to Lakeport Landing Marina requires the boat dealer to vacate the premises at 21 Elm St. by April 20, but the matter will likely end up in court and could be decided well after that date.

Lakeport Landing’s lease on the city-owned property expires on Sunday, but the eviction notice carries an April 20 date because that allows for more than 30 days to elapse following delivery of the document, City Manager Scott Myers said Tuesday.

“At the time the 30-day notice is up, we would go to the court to seek assistance with the eviction process,” Myers said.

Lakeport Landing also has the option to go to court to challenge the eviction notice.

Erica Blizzard, owner of Lakeport Landing, and her attorney, Biron Bedard, did not return calls for comment Monday and Tuesday.

The city is selling the building that now serves as Lakeport Landing’s showroom to Irwin Marine, another boat dealer, for $500,000.

Lakeport Landing filed a legal challenge to that sale, claiming the city had granted it first right of refusal to purchase the property. The city disputed that claim.

The litigation was tentatively settled and Lakeport Landing purchased another city property, the old Lakeport Fire Station, for $385,000 last year with plans to turn that into a showroom, but the renovation project has yet to get off the ground.
