LACONIA — Police say they have a number of good leads in the case of a purse snatching at the Vista Foods parking lot on south Main Street Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Thomas Swett said a woman was sitting in her car when she was approached by a second woman who was looking for a ride.

After a brief conversation, the driver said the second woman grabbed her purse from the passenger seat of the car and began running north toward Northway Bank, to the north.

The victim was able to chase down the erstwhile purse snatcher, knock her down and retrieve her property.

The robber, who is described as being about 5"4" tall and weighing about 160 pounds with light blond hair fled the area on foot.

Swett said the crime occurred at 2:24 p.m. and there were and number of witnesses. Police ask that anyone with any information call Laconia Police at 524-5257 or the anonymous Greater Laconia Crime Line at 524-1717.
