A ribbon cutting marked the soft opening of The Taphouse Winnipesaukee in Center Harbor on Friday afternoon. The new 150-seat restaurant will have its official opening on Friday, May 2, following soft opening days on Wednesday and Thursday, April 30-May 1. The new eatery will have a 100-seat biergarten overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. They'll offer comfort food, a selection of craft beer, wine and cocktails, with three full bars. The restaurant will also have live entertainment Thursdays through Sundays, from May to October. The taphouse occupies the Coe House, an 1800s Victorian mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Owner Sam Schwartz, a Massachusetts native, brought more than 20 years of hospitality experience to New Hampshire to open The Taphouse.
