The New Hampshire Tourism Summit was held at the Lakeport Opera House on Tuesday afternoon. The summit brings together over 100 leaders from businesses and organizations across New Hampshire for an update on the upcoming marketing plan for the summer and recap of how things have gone the past year. Four awards were presented, including the lifetime achievement award to Hope Makris. The Dick Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to an individual who has made a long lasting and significant contribution to the visitor industry.

Hope, who owns the NASWA Resort at the Weirs, has worked in the tourism industry for over 89 years. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made a long lasting and significant contribution to the visitor industry. “I feel very honored to even be standing up here because anything I did was just plain work, that’s all,” she said. “I worked, I worked, I worked, and I went through 99 years of just work. And here I am; amazing. I thank everybody for the generosity.” (Daniel Sarch/The Laconia Daily Sun photo)
