FRANKLIN — Richard Tripaldi, 26, received a 42-years-to-life prison sentence after pleading guilty in the murder of his former boyfriend.
New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and State Police Col. Christopher
Wagner announced the sentence yesterday in the June 21, 2017, fatal shooting of 24-year-old James Brock.
Police learned of Brock’s death on Aug. 1, and their investigation led them to his remains in the woods. An autopsy revealed that he had died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Based on witness interviews, police identified Tripaldi as the suspect in Brock’s murder. With the assistance of the Manchester Police Department, they located Tripaldi there on Aug. 2, and he later confessed to the murder.
He has been held without bail since his arrest.
In court, Tripaldi pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and, for stealing Brock’s car, to Class A felony of theft by unauthorized taking.
The court imposed the 42-years-to-life prison sentence on the murder charge, with a concurrent sentence of seven and one-half to 15 years in prison on the theft charge.
The case involved the collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the New Hampshire State Police, the Franklin Police Department, and the Manchester Police Department.
