Two fireworks displays were set off in Laconia for Independence Day. The Weirs Action Committee hosted one on Thursday night from Weirs Beach, and the City of Laconia lit fireworks from the field at Opechee Park, behind The Defiant One statue. The Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad dropped off visitors a few minutes before the start of the fireworks at The Weirs. Over 1,000 people viewed the fireworks displays throughout the city.
