LACONIA — In addition to the public hearing regarding the tax relief application for the Pemaco building, the council will:

  • Hold a public hearing regarding potential designation of Hayes Road as an emergency lane
    • According to a city staff report, recent information obtained by the city suggests the Hayes Road private right-of-way may extend from the constructed portion that ends at 105 Hayes Road to Scenic Drive. Public works identifies the constructed portion of Hayes Road which ends at the western boundary of 105 Hayes as the portion under consideration to be declared an emergency lane.
    • At their meeting on March 11, councilors approved stopping public works services on Hayes Road, which is private.
  • Consider a temporary traffic order to close Canal Street on May 17; the street would be blocked off from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. while Lakes Region Community College holds their graduation at the Colonial Theatre
  • Consider collective bargaining agreements between the city and the Laconia Education Association, and between the city and employees of the public works department
  • Consider a grant agreement between the Laconia Municipal Airport and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Bureau of Aeronautics for a project for the removal of on-airport and on-airport-controlled properties, to conduct an airport obstruction analysis and update a stormwater pollution prevention plan
    • The city would see no budgetary impact. The airport would be responsible for 4.84% of the total grant agreement cost. The Federal Aviation Administration would cover 90.3% of the associated cost. New Hampshire Department of Transportation and Bureau of Aeronautics would cover 4.8%.
  • Consider a resolution strongly objecting to the freezing of federal grant programs to states and municipalities and to agencies and organizations which support Laconia residents
    • Ward 3 Councilor Eric Hoffman requested this resolution be presented to the broader council for their discussion and consideration, according to a staff report. It apparently mirrors a resolution approved recently by the Lebanon City Council.
