LACONIA _ A 12-year-old girl, distracted by her cell phone, was injured about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when she lost balance on her bicycle and ran into a truck on North Main Street near Oak Street, police said.
The northbound truck was stopped in traffic and the girl was riding north on the sidewalk when she lost control of her bike. The driver didn’t realize the bicycle had hit his truck and when he drove forward, a trailer he was hauling ran her over. The girl's name was not released.
She was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for injuries that were determined not to be life threatening.
