ASHLAND — A wrong-way driver is charged with driving while intoxicated on Interstate 93 on Friday, according to a press release from State Police.

A trooper assigned to the Troop F barracks tried to stop a red 2014 Kia Sorento after observing the vehicle driving south in the northbound lanes of I-93 at 11:43 p.m. on Feb. 6.

The trooper turned on his emergency lights and tried to use his cruiser to stop the oncoming vehicle, but the driver of the Kia — later identified as Craig S. Pasco, 69, of Wentworth — avoided the cruiser, driving around and continuing in the wrong direction.

The trooper used a crossover, caught up with Pasco’s Kia, and set up a tire deflation device. Pasco drove over the device and stopped shortly thereafter. He was taken into custody.

Pasco is charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor charges of disobeying an officer and aggravated DWI. He was being held at Grafton County Jail before a scheduled appearance in Plymouth District Court on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Joseph Leva at 603-846-3333.
