BELMONT — An Ossipee woman is facing charges of being drunk behind the wheel of a vehicle she allegedly stole and crashed moments later early Thursday morning, police said.
Paige Hedburg, 25, of Dorrs Corner Road in Center Ossipee, was charged with driving while intoxicated and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle following the single-vehicle crash around 2:30 a.m.on Jamestown Road.
Belmont said they received a call around 2:20 a.m. Thursday that a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee had been stolen from a residence on Gardners Grove Road by someone who was a guest at the house. As police arrived in the area of nearby Jamestown Road they received another call from a resident of who was awaken by the sound of a loud crash. Police then found a Jeep which had crashed into a stone wall at 55 Jamestown Road.
Hedburg was found to be uninjured, but officers determined, while speaking with her, that she appeared intoxicated. After field sobriety tests were administered, Hedburg was arrested.
Hedburg is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Fourth Circuit Court-District Division-Laconia on April 26.
The Jeep was heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene by Rusty’s towing.
Belmont Master Patrol Officer Joel Pickowicz is in charge of the investigation.
